Italian ryegrass (aka Annual Ryegrass) is rapidly becoming one of the most problematic weeds in no-till corn and soybean production in Kentucky. Presented by Dr. Travis Legleiter, UK Extension Associate Professor - Weed Science, this field tour will highlight the options available to Kentucky farmers for maximum control of this problematic weed in the fall and spring prior to corn and soybean planting.
Beginning Nov. 2, 2023, the University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment will present a series of four webinars covering field crop protection. Hosted through the Southern Integrated Pest Management Center, the webinars will feature UK extension pest management specialists discussing weed science, plant pathology, and entomology topics. Continuing education credits for Kentucky pesticide applicators and Certified Crop Advisors will be available.

As offered in previous years, the University of Kentucky has once again organized five webinars on field crop protection topics that will be hosted through the Southern Integrated Pest Management Center beginning on Nov. 8, 2022.
Still recovering from the December 2021 tornadoes, Beef Bash 2022 will take place at the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center in Princeton Oct. 20.
Locations: Fresh Start Farm (Hodgenville) and Preston Farms (Glendale). Our team will highlight research efforts at two farms that we will visit. Topics range from agronomics, foliar fertilizers, cover crops, variable-rate nitrogen, plant diseases, current insect issues, grain storage, and more.
Topics this year include wheat management in a warmer/wetter climate, wheat agronomics, drying and storage options for quality markets, how variable rate irrigation fits with wheat and an update on the UKREC’s progress after the EF-4 tornado that significantly damaged the center in December.
